Horizon Nexus
The studio

Built where the river meets the bay.

Horizon Nexus is an independent game studio in Kilmarnock, Virginia — a small town on the Chesapeake Bay, a long way from any tech hub. That distance is the point. We make games the way small coastal workshops make boats: by hand, to last, with no committee within a hundred miles.

The studio pairs hand-built game design with AI-augmented craft — modern tools that let a tiny team ship at a pace that used to take a floor of people. Every mechanic, every difficulty curve, every scoring rule is still a human decision; the machines just help us build it faster and test it harder.

What comes out the other end is a particular kind of game: quick, clever, and honest. Instant to load on any device. Learnable in a breath. Free of dark patterns — no streak-guilt, no pay-to-win, no manufactured scarcity, no tricks engineered to hold you past the fun. Many of our games ship a seeded daily challenge, so the whole world plays the same run and there's one score to beat. When a game asks for money — like removing ads — it asks once, plainly, and takes no for an answer.

The catalog spans three lanes: our arcade originals and daily strategy games, the Boardwalk Arcade — a love letter to the golden era of browser games, rebuilt with modern craft — and Kidsville, a kids' platform governed by a promise most children's apps won't make: zero tracking, zero ads shown to kids, parents in charge of every purchase.

Horizon Nexus was founded and is run by Justin George. The name is the mission: build past the horizon — toward the thing you can't quite see yet, before the rest of the water wakes up.
